What is San Miguel de Allende like?

San Miguel de Allende ("SMA") is a town located in the central highlands Mexico (6,200 ft. above sea level) with a population of 160,500 people. SMA has over 320 days of sunshine and moderate rainfall. This colonial town has a flavor of its own with cobblestone streets, burros carrying firewood, painters, photographers, sculptors, beautiful sunsets, and amazing restaurants.

How do I get around town?
Taxi is a safe and popular way to get around town. The taxi number is +52 415 103 5467. Also, Uber is always an option. However, uber drivers are limited in SMA. You can also hire a private driver.
What are important things to bring?

Please be sure your passport is up to date! If it expires within six months of the wedding, we recommend you get it renewed as soon as possible.
Since the elevation in SMA is high, please bring plenty of sunscreen. If you are prone to altitude sickness, bring aspirin, oxygen, and/or other medication. Drink plenty of water!
Can I wear high heels?
On the wedding day, you can wear high heels. However, we do not recommend high heels on Friday night if you plan to walk to the venue. Block heels or wedges are OK, but if you have knee issues or are uncomfortable walking on cobblestone streets, please wear flats with traction.
What is the style of the Wedding?
The wedding will be a fusion wedding incorporating Indian, Western, and Mexican elements. We recommend wearing Indian Formal or Festive Cocktail for the Welcome Night. Bright colors are encouraged! The Wedding Day attire will be Festive Black Tie or Indian.
